BIM requires four years of study to acquire undergraduate academic degree. Initiated by Tribhuvan University in 2001, this course is offered only in a few accountable colleges in Nepal. The course structure is a hybrid program with about 60% management and 40% information theory courses.
 

Objectives

To prepare IT professionals proficient in the use of computers & computational techniques in order to develop effective information systems to solve real life problems in the organizational milieu.
 *
To develop students skill in object-oriented software design methods and data management systems.
 *
To provide professional training to students by combining information technology with managerial skill.
 *
To prepare students to proceed on to post graduate level study in information management within and outside the country.

Eligibility For Admission

 
The candidate applying for BIM program must have :
 
 *
Successfully completed a twelve-year schooling or equivalent from any University, Board or Institution recognized by Tribhuvan University.
 *
Secured a minimum of second division in the twelve-year schooling or equivalent.
 *
Compiled with all the application procedures.

Admission Criteria

 

Written Test: Applications are required to appear in the entrance test (CMAT) conducted by the Faculty of Management of TU. Students must secure a minimum of 40% in the entrance test (CMAT) in order to qualify for the interview.

 
The test will follow the international testing pattern and standards. It includes area like:
 
 1.Verbal ability
 2.Quantitative ability
 3.Logical Reasoning
 4.General Awareness

Interview: Only short-listed candidates from the written test will be interviewed and selected for admission.

Attendance

 
Students are required to attend all lectures regularly, practical classes, seminars and presentations as required by the course. A candidate is required to attend at least 80% of such activities in order to be eligible to appear in the semester examination.

Examination, Evaluation & Grading System

 
The BIM program will be executed through the semester system. There will be altogether eight semesters required to complete the regular program. The internal (on going) evaluation shall carry 40% weight while the external (end of semester) examination shall carry 60% weight. The final grade shall be determined on the overall performance in internal and external examinations.

Passing Grade and Grading System

 
Students must secure a minimum of grade ‘C’ or Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.0 in the internal evaluation in order to qualify to appear in the semester examination. The passing grade in the semester examination for an individual paper is also grade ‘D’ or GPA of 1.5. In order to pass the semester examination, the student must secure grade ‘C’ or average Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.0. Students who secure a Semester Grade of ‘D’ is not promoted to the next semester.
